Dr. K. Krishnamoorthy

Krishnamoorthy did his PhD at Indian Institute of Technology-Bombay, Mumbai between 2000 and 2004. Later he was a post-doc at Georgia State University-Atlanta and New Mexico State University-Las Cruces, USA. He moved to University of Massachusetts-Amherst and joined Professor Thayumanavan’s group as Research Professor. During that time, he participated in US national level competition, Ignite Clean Energy conducted by Massachusetts Institute of Technology-USA. His team reached semi-finals. IN the same year, his team (Surya) won second prize in the Massachusetts state level competition. In the winter of 2009, he returned to India and started his individual research career at CSIR-National Chemical Laboratory-Pune. He established a full fledged solar cell fabrication and testing facility under the TAPSUN program. He is funded by CSIR, DST, SERB, ARDB, ANRF, TATA Chemicals and LOreal. In 2016, he was awarded Alexander von Humboldt Experienced Researcher Fellowship. He spent a year in Professor Gunther Wittstock’s group at Carl von Ossietzky Universitat Oldenburg. His research focus has been on rationally designed synthesis organic and carbon materials and their use in energy devices.
